Is The Post Office Open On Juneteenth Day

Post Offices Closed for Juneteenth

Federal Holiday Observed Nationwide

Important Information for Consumers

Juneteenth, commemorating the end of slavery in the United States, is a federal holiday observed by the Federal Reserve and the United States Postal Service (USPS). On June 19, 2023, all USPS retail locations will be closed for retail operations and there will be no regular mail delivery.

This closure includes all post offices, postal stores, and other USPS facilities that typically provide retail services to the public. Customers are encouraged to plan ahead and visit their local post office on a business day before or after the holiday to conduct any necessary business.

Juneteenth became a federal holiday in 2021, and this year marks the third year of its observance. The holiday is also known as Emancipation Day, Juneteenth Independence Day, and Freedom Day. While Juneteenth is a federal holiday, some businesses and organizations may choose to operate on a modified schedule or remain closed. Consumers are advised to contact individual businesses or organizations directly for their specific operating hours on Juneteenth.

The USPS encourages customers to utilize its online services, such as Click-N-Ship, to manage their mailing needs during the holiday closure. Additionally, USPS self-service kiosks located in select retail locations will remain accessible for customers to purchase stamps and other postal products.
